Bug Description

I have installed Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty and MATE Desktop from your PPA repo.
I see Sticky Notes Applet is missing in this repo. This applet was always in mate-applets package and this package is installed, but I can't add this applet to panel - I can't find it in applets list.

Yes, I noticed this myself the other day. Stick Notes applet is currently missing from the Debian packages and therefore also missing from Ubuntu. I will raise this with the MATE packaging team for Debian.

Please inform me about progress with this bug. May be for you this is low importance bug, but for me this is critical bug. I can't upgrade to Ubuntu 14.04 because of this bug. Thanks for any help.

Please rebuild mate-applets package with -enable-stickynotes. This simple solution fix this bug.

I'd like to ask what the status of this is? Has sticky-notes been officially deprecated/dropped?

Sticky Notes has not been dropped.

I've just uploaded a new mate-applets package for Trusty to my PPA. I'd be interested to know if Stick Notes is now working on Trusty. I've also issued a request to sync mate-applets from Debian unstable to Ubuntu Utopic.

@Alex: That looks like some baggage from quite some time ago, and has been removed. But looking at this I would not be surprised if the missing applet turns out to be a packaging hiccup because of that.

Sticky Notes has not dropped and if you look to Mate roadmap (http://wiki.mate-desktop.org/roadmap), you can see new feature added to Sticky Notes applet in new Mate version 1.8.x. Mate developers continue working on this applet.

@Martin Wimpress: I've just tested Sticky Notes on Trusty and I see it work now. Thank you. I always have Trusty installed in Virtualbox for testing, if you need to test something on Trusty, you can ask me any time.

@alexlsh Thanks for the confirmation. I'll close this issue as I can do nothing more to influence the sync request I've fileed for Utopic.

Yes, I can also confirm that it is now in the packages, thank you very much.

I just asked if it was dropped because I found quite confusing talk about how it was optional.
