In Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTSl, if settings -> appearance -> Desktop Icons -> Show Personal Folder = off,
this doesn't work. The folders are showing on the desktop.
In dconf-editor, /org/gnome/shell/extensions/ding/show-home = off.
The following also has no effect:
gsettings set org.gnome.shell.extensions.ding show-home false |

But then, if I create a ~/Desktop folder and put files in it, they don't appear on the desktop, even if I have edited
~/.config/user-dirs.dirs to have XDG_DESKTOP.DIR="$HOME/Desktop"
I don't think all these things are working together, or aware of each other:
ubuntu settings
gnome
XDG
ding@rastersoft.com
In particular, maybe ding@rastersoft.com broke this, although I can't be sure, but it seems to not handle well a /home/user folder without a Desktop folder or with an empty Desktop folder, where the user does not want any (home folder) icons to show on the Desktop. I hope they will please fix this. |
