I have recently noticed that when switching from languages such as "Russian" or "Arabic" to "Japanese (Anthy)", though seemingly never "English (UK)/(US)", that it doesn't properly switch and carries on typing whichever language it was that I was trying to change from. I have made a screencast of what I experience (sorry that it's a little slow and has a few issues such as where I accidentally brought up the find feature in gedit, twice):

I am running Ubuntu GNOME 16.04 with GNOME 3.20. I am unsure of which package I should report this under so I am just reporting it under Ubuntu GNOME in general, please assign it to the correct package though as well.
