And to add mistery, calling the daemon:

% udisksctl mount --block-device /dev/sdc1

will correctly mount the disk and the log says:

14:40:13.601:[7143]:[NOTICE]: Mounted /dev/sdc1 at /media/romano/3861-ECBD on behalf of uid 1153 [udiskslinuxfilesystem.c:1493, handle_mount()]
