Lack of Hinting: Mono looks terrible in Windows Cleartype

Bug Description

Regular Ubuntu looks very good in Windows, but the UbuntuBeta Mono looks really bad. The attached screenshot shows both. If I go down to 11 or 10 points, it looks OK. Also, at 9 points, horizontal lines are missing (the middle of 'e' and 'a', the tops of 'A' and 'R'). But size 8 looks OK again. Is this a known thing, or ClearType hinting hasn't been added yet? It's odd that the normal Ubuntu font looks good and this one is a mess.

This is a known thing-- the font still hasn't been hinted yet. (Though I am curious when the hinted version is supposed to be released, as I too am anxiously awaiting it for my Windows partition...)

OK then. I knew it had to be a hinting problem, but I didn't know that hinting hadn't been added at all yet. Back to Proggy & Consolas for now... Thanks Cody.

Hm, that bug didn't show up when I searched for ClearType, sorry for the dup.

Cody: It's listed in the next (0.72) milestone. Not sure exactly when, but it should be ready soon. https://launchpad.net/ubuntu-font-family/+milestone/0.72
