monospace without hinting make some parts bold

Bug Description

because i do not like blurry bold fonts but clear sharp ones i disable hinting. if i do this some letters "d,g,l,u" came up with an bold stroke
on the screenshot u can see left without, right with hinting

Hello Sandra, thank you for the attached screenshot; It's worth noting two aspects:

  1. Black-and-white rendering only works with Manually Hinted forms
  2. UbuntuBeta Mono Regular does not (yet) the Manual hinting information (it's being done)

Back to your report here; yes I *can* see the issue on the attached screenshot , but I'm puzzling over the description you wrote. Would you be able to find a different way of phrasing the description to better help me understand it.

Looking at the image, I think it is showing:

  Left: Black-and-white, no-antialiasing, hinting enabled (but without the font having the necessary information)
  Right: Sub-pixel, antialiasing, hinting disabled

Does that make sense? If not, could you take screenshots of the font-settings dialogue box along with each side of the screenshot. This will allow reproducing the image for testing purposes more easily.
