Bug Description

After installing the private beta of the monospaced font, the light variant of Ubuntu shows as bold in Google Chrome and Chromium. However, Firefox and Inkscape still display them properly.

The light italic variant is also displayed properly.

I attach a screenshot from the Google Webfonts directory.

I only assume this is a bug in the Ubuntu font private-beta package. it may also be that Google's webfonts API is broken of course.

Hello Stefano: thanks for the report. It's not a bug in the fonts themselves, but in the font matching stack on Linux in general (bug #744812) and font families with multiple variants.

The work-around for Ubuntu 11.04 (natty, released a month ago) was simply to not ship the Medium fonts at the last minute. The newer version of 'ttf-ubuntu-font-family' with the beta mono fonts also includes the full set of Light/Regular/Medium/Bold + Italics.
