Bug Description

I spend a significant amount of my day working within Google Docs. Overall I'm very happy with the parallel collaboration that GDoc allows for, and I find the feature set reasonably complete.

But as much as I like Google Docs, I'm an even bigger fan of the Ubuntu Font. I would very much like to see the Ubuntu Font integrated into Google Docs so that the typeface of my online docs matches the typeface of the Ubuntu OS UI.

Integrating the Ubuntu font into GDocs would also make it easier for us to create customer-facing docs with GDocs, which should utilize our font whenever possible. As it is today, I have to produce customer-facing documents with Open/Libre Office if I want to get the aesthetic just right.

Seems to work (see screenshot above), and you should be able to export to PDF with the font correctly embedded; try with:

Some teething problems; Bold/Italic won't work if you already have a font matching src:local('Ubuntu') already installed locally―which will be the case for Ubuntu machines.

Brent: I think that it's the Google Docs and Google Webfonts teams who jointly deserve the credit! They've both worked together over the last few months to build the infrastructure to allow the necessary APIs to talk to each other.

On a separate note; I've just had confirmation that the Font CSS generation has now been fixed, to generate the correct src:local() entries with the relevant PostScript and FullName IDs. This means that Bold, Italic and Bold-Italic will now work in Google Docs correctly, even when the font is installed locally.

We can ask about them, but they're still very much under development.

Any updates on when the Light variant will be added? Or should a new bug report be filed since this one is Fix Released?
