Bug Description

Rendered in 11pt Regular

Sample Glyphs:

Wachsſchicht ſfſ ſtſ ſlſ

Description:

I know the long s, ſ (U+017F), is no longer used in every day communication. Wikipedia says it belongs to “Latin Extended-A”. Is that block already finished at all?

My observations:
 • The hinting is somehow different from small f. I think that is not intended, since for big sizes the upper part of f and ſ become nearly identical. At least the latter is intended, I think.
 • The kenning and spacing for ſ is not consistent with the remaining text.

UA String:

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; de; rv:1.9.2.10) Gecko/20100915 Ubuntu/10.04 (lucid) Firefox/3.6.10

Yes, this is in the Latin Extended A block, which is *complete*, but not *done* as long as there's still bugs! Part of releasing this out into the wild for Ubuntu 10.10 is to get this kind of level of feedback/reports from a wider audience.

adoa, this looks very similar to bug 682472, which you also reported about the same glyph. I can't imagine them being fixed separately, so I will mark this one as a duplicate.
