Bug Description

Please add support to Mac's dash symbol ("Alt" + "-") because it looks like "w" letter in Chrome.
Also I have problems with › and space (space looks like double width).
Chrome version: 40.0.2214.91

What is the "Mac Dash Symbol"? I don't have a Mac to test at the moment, so please could you confirm what precise character Alt + '-' should generate? This webpage suggests that it is "superscript minus":

Could you paste the following text to and let us know how it appears in the Ubuntu font?

    minus − / en dash – / em dash — / hyphen -

Thanks!

This was working fine a couple of days ago, now curly quotes, em-dashes and en-dashes are appearing incorrectly. I've been able to resolve the problem with quotes (single and double) by using the straight versus curly versions. However no matter what I try (— — or —) dashes appear as accented characters. I've only tried it on OSX and iOS, Safari and Chrome, and the problem only shows on Chrome on the Mac.

John, removing this font is not a correct problem resolving method. I have chrome extension (this extension change all fonts on all sites to Ubuntu font) and I've looking at sites more then 4 years with this font.

I wasn't suggesting it as a solution, just pointing it out in case it helped identify the problem. Deleting the font isn't a good solution for me either.

I can confirm this issue. Additionally these characters don't display correctly for me:
„ “

I have the Ubuntu font installed locally. The characters talked about in this thread don't show correctly in Chrome and Mac OS X's Font Book application. Microsoft Word displays the same characters without problem. (Maybe Word doesn't use the system's font rendering?)

Possibly explainable if Chrome fetching over the web uses the main table and Chrome (fetching locally on Mac, which is where we've seen the rest of the reports) is getting the Mac Roman encoding table.

I'm having this problem as well! It started just in January this year...I don't know what changed but it did just suddenly happen...and it's in fact happening right now when I type a dash en dash – <--- I'm seeing a w with an acute accent on it. I'm also seeing 8s and 9s in superscript instead of quotation marks. Weird thing is if I copy it and paste it elsewhere, it recognises it as an en dash...

Is there somewhere I should uninstall and reinstall it?

I just tried doing the instructions on here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6510381?start=0&tstart=0

It didn't work. :(

The procedure described in @daljeet-singh88's apple link worked for me. I wonder why this suddenly broke...
