Bug Description

Fred from Software Freedom Day send us a huge banner with the SFD logo, which uses the Ubuntu Font Family.

As this is something tangible and physical, it might be good to have a picture in the /gallery on the new Ubuntu Font Family website.

Iain: do you have a decent DSLR and would be able to help out with this? We can probably stick it on the wall somewhere.

You'll probably be able to get a lot of "in use" shots after September 17th on Flick'r and elsewhere as SFD teams will be using the banner for their events all over the world. We can even send them a request to post some specific shot (a competition theme for 2011?).

Fred: yeah, but it's good to have a prelude :-)

BTW, the handwritten letter to Jane was wonderful too, I wonder if we can work that into the picture too, or perhaps a scan (Iain?). The full SFD "team kit" has been on display in the Millbank office kitchen/canteen area for a few days for all to see, but got packaged up yesterday/today for an event happening in there that needed the table space—so I've rescued it and sent it down to the design corner.

It's always really satisfying to see physical products, so much of what we do is just pushing electronic bits and bytes around, without being able to hold the result at the end.

Also there is a bit of history here and there (I tried to find something that would sum it up but... failed). This image will give you the initial version and ideas: http://wiki.softwarefreedomday.org/Artwork/ProposedLogoMaxus?action=AttachFile&do=view&target=SFD3Logo_40Percent.jpg

Feedback is available in this thread http://mail.sf-day.org/pipermail/marketing/2011-April/000134.html (and some more places). That lead mainly to removal of the penguin, inversion of the hill slope/direction and license change.

Marking "Fix Released" for the moment:

We can perhaps add something to the website gallery itself at a later date once enough CC-BY-SA usable images pop up on Flickr. For the moment, there's at least a scan of part of the banner up.

If you see one image that you think is worth posting but either too small or not licensed like what we need I can get in touch with the team and get both. It usually always works.
