In the meantime I've found a workaround to get clock APP running again:
1. uninistall the APP
2. delete the following directories: rm -rf ~/.cache/QML/Apps/com.ubuntu.clock_clock_3.7.456/ rm -rf ~/.config/com.ubuntu.clock/ rm -rf ~/.local/share/com.ubuntu.clock/
3. re-install the APP
… now I'm just a little mad about myself that I did not save these directories for analysis of the content. :-(
