Additionally; and this would require buy in from the release team, we can either:
1- get rid of the current debian packaging altogether and create a wrapper that would build the click
2- do two builds and add an extra binary package ${binary}-click which would just hold the built click (this requires two builds in the package for compiled apps though).
this way you can easily test it in upstream merger. I don't see anything from doing just #1.
It's ironic though that there was so much work into simplifying packaging that we now repack wrap it :-)
