I can confirm that the current daily Lubuntu Groovy Desktop file (2020-07-107) works in VirtualBox, when booted from the iso file seen as a virtual optical drive.

Tested on 2 machines in VirtualBox
1. InWin BL641 i5-10400,16GB,Intel UHD Graphics 630,Ethernet,Intel 660p 512GB M.2 NVMe hd

2. Dell [Optiplex] 7010 ( i5-3470 , 16 GB, Intel Graphics 2500, Intel 82579LM GB Ethernet ,1TB hd)

However no attempt was made to install on these machines "barebone".
