- A Lenovo V130 finds the Linpus Lite boot option, but when selected it skips directly to the internal drive's grub menu (with dual boot Ubuntu and Windows). Back to square one.

- A Toshiba Satellite Pro C850 19w boots both in UEFI mode with *secure boot* and in BIOS mode.

- An old Lenovo X131e with Intel i3 boots both in UEFI mode and in BIOS mode.

- An HP Probook 6450b with Intel i5 boots both in UEFI mode and in BIOS mode.

Summary: There is a big improvement. The various computers tested so far with one exception, can boot both in BIOS mode and UEFI mode (also with secure boot, when that was tested).
