I checked out this app quickly and it looks good to me but I have one thing I need you to fix before I give you a +1. When you remove the app it doesnt properly remove itself from the messaging menu. Could you fix this and report back?

I just had a look over it, some remarks:
 - "Description: Gmail Notifier … " that could be a bit more informative like "
Gmailwatcher is a notifier for Gmail and Google Apps mail."

The packaging looks fine, short and sweet (thanks to cdbs).

A quick update: we're delaying applications in the Application Review Board queue to have a more detailed conversation about review standards at the Ubuntu Developer Summit this week.

I've decided to completely re-write GmailWatcher. Current implementation is a mess and quite a few issues have started to surface. Hence I am withdrawing my application to make it into the software center until re-written version is out.

I promise a rock-solid generic (IMAP) mail notifier this time. :)
