Same issue here.

Did:
apt-get install python-gobject

It was already installed. Don't know what else to do.

Installing it at all was a pain because I had to use python2.5_2.5.2_2ubuntu5, along with all its dependencies, to install the required python-dev2.5_2.5.2ubuntu5. I wonder if that has anything to do with it?
