Peter,
throwing probably lots of useless headers at a UI that is already slow enough (on older machines) is just not the thing to do. The underlying issue of not getting certain headers when not sending all (which I had to work around in Mnenhy, as you already observed) has two obvious solutions:
- make the backend listen to more detailed prefs regarding the headers to send (-> that's bug 236954)
- provide a scriptable interface for arbitrary header/value pair requests (no bug yet, afaik)
