OK, then my stand-in suggestion of displaying the icon, perhaps pushing Reply
All out of the way for that, *only* when there exists a valid list header, still
stays.

Ah, so you recommend the removal of Reply All *in toto*, or at least the
replacement of Reply All by Reply List when such a header exists?

You mean, *two* toolbar buttons for Reply All and Reply List is definitely
wrong, and only one should exist which automatically switches between the two
functions depending on the presence or absence of a header?

Hmm, maybe, but it wouldn't take any real estate. And in the rare cases when a
mail has been sent to a list, but not just to a list? Perhaps to many lists?
Perhaps to a list and one or more persons? One does need a Reply All for that,
but, as you say, it is a rare function and hence doesn't need to be thrown on
the toolbar. It *should* *be there*, however, for those who need it.
