Speaking from a user perspective, I really don't care if the message was To me and CC the list or vice-versa. If I understand some of the patch stuff, I think you're making this more complex than it needs to be. If there is a "reply-to-list" header in the message, the reply-to-list button should reply to that address. Regardless of how it arrived in my e-mail. "Reply" should reply to the Sender, or to the "Reply-To" address if one is present.

In fact, I'd recommend against monkeying with default "reply" behavior in the presence of mailing lists. The Kmail crew did this a couple years ago, and the end result was a lot of people (including me) sending mails to the list which we meant to be private; they reverted the changes later. Let's don't repeat the same mistake with Thunderbird: leave it up to the user to whom he wants to reply.

If I've misunderstood the patch, never mind, but please keep the commentary above in case someone decides to get clever later.
