External phenomenon depends on case sensitivity of file name/IMAP folder name at both IMAP server and local PC. Bug 484329 is probably IMAP server on Unix(case sentisitve) & Tb on Linux case, and Tb mis-handles it then folder is hidden. If IMAP of IIS on MS Win, different phenomenon can occur. (example. IIS on MS Win retrurn OK to create "aaa", but returns folder name of "AAA".)
Is your IMAP server case sensitive on IMAP folder name and filename?

Anyway, this bug is for rename of local mail folder.
If your problem with IMAP is different from Bug 484329, get IMAP log, and open separate bug, please.
