This is already upstreamed at https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=774430, and is most likely a GTK+ issue. Apparently only a few users are affected. No developer has been able to reproduce it yet, let alone fix it.

Hints in that bug (and further linked other bugs) with the input method might help you find a workaround.
