I thought I'd have another look at the custom_commands plugin you linked to previously and I now realise that it seems to be the original source of SSHMenu and, being GTK3 compliant already, might've made for a better starting point. However, I think I prefer having the commands displayed in a separate window rather than within a submenu of the terminator context menu so I don't think my efforts have gone to waste.
