No worries. I'm just glad you're working on this and you're progressing through it so fast. I was messing around with getting the scrollbars transparent last night and ended up doing something similar to what you did with setting a separate background color per terminal, but your solution is more solid than where I was headed.

For me, I get a black scrollbar if I use system colors. If I set the background color manually I get whatever color I set it to.

However, I noticed in GNOME Terminal I get a purple scrollbar when I use system colors (with the Ambiance theme). I'm not sure where it's getting that color from, but it does seem like the right colors for that theme. I'm digging around in the gnome-terminal source and looking online for other css variable names but not having much luck.
