Comment 2 for bug 1507567

I found that post with the same question in mind and found the solution for me:
Go to Terminator Preferences > Profiles > Command
Check the box "Run command as a login shell" and your new terminal will have all environment variables from gnome and your ~/.profile file is sourced.
