Hi Simon,
As for 1, I cannot create a functional package. I can only recommend bzr gtk3 branch plus give a few patches that apply (without conflict) on top of each other, that's all. This might be as simple as applying the patches from a few aforementioned bugreports, but might require some more work if they conflict with each other, I can't tell right now which will be the case.
As for 4, since we're only 5 days from FinalFreeze, I'd like to see a clear confirmation that someone has the approval and is willing to upgrade this package, despite all kinds of freezes in effect right now. Following the spirit of comment 90, I wouldn't want to waste any more time on this (read: I don't have any time to waste. I'm willing to help only if I know for sure that my work is going make it into Xenial). "might have" is way too weak for me at this point, sorry. Please ask them for a definite answer. Please refer them to comment 88's security implications.
