Awesome up to this point! The next step should be getting Ubuntu pick up 1.99 for Xenial LTS.

It's up to you. I'd wait at least for about a month. We can wait longer with the 1.0/2.0 releases if you want more people to test and come back with feedbacks. We can even have 1.99.1 etc. releases in between (or 1.100 if you're pervert :P). Or go straight ahead to 1.0/2.0, that would give more media coverage to the project and more people hooked on.
