Seems like GlusterFS had similiar issues some time ago but libvirt implemented a GlusterFS autodetection. This would explain why Gluster testing is behaving differently from our Quobyte tests as libvirt currently does not detect Quobyte as a shared file system by itself.
The workaround described in there is exactly what we're doing right now in our CI setup.
