In Luna, there were extra options in the power settings. I would like those settings restored. The one that I specifically want brought back is the option to change what happens when the lid is closed. This was helpful to me because sometimes I need my laptop to be on when I'm not actively using it.
I often need to perform tasks on my computer that require some time to complete, like converting video or a bunch of songs, any number of things. In Luna I set the laptop to do nothing when I closed the lid if it was plugged in. That enabled my tasks to get done and it turned off the screen, saving power. But more than that, it kept the keyboard from getting dusty.
Another problem I've encountered on Freya is an issue regarding the 'Dim screen when inactive' option in the power settings. No matter whether I have this option on or off, my screen never dims or turns off when I have the power cord connected. I almost always have my laptop's power cord connected, so this is a pretty big issue for me. And when this is combined with the problem listed above, it becomes even worse. I can't close the laptop or it will go to sleep and stop what I'm doing, and if I leave it on, the screen doesn't dim or turn off. It's a tremendous annoyance and a waste of electricity.
I waited almost a month for a possible fix, but none has resolved my issues. I would really appreciate a solution to these problems. I really love using Elementary OS, and while these problems aren't enough to make me stop using it, they do make the experience less enjoyable.
I'm using an Asus S500CA with Intel Pentium processor and 4gb of ram. I've attatched a more thorough system info report
