I tested this method for verifying USB content, comparing one of our labs against the installation source:

$ stat -c '%s' bootimage.iso
1881145344
$ md5sum bootimage.iso
8c95d3cf2461b049b459729d922d70bf bootimage.iso

controller-0:/home/wrsroot# head -c 1881145344 /dev/sdc | md5sum
