Actually you don't have to do bind mounts. One of the reasons we use apparmor variables for HOME is so that an administrator can adjust what HOME expands to for situations like this.
Feel free to do one of:
$ sudo dpkg-reconfigure apparmor
Or drop a file into /etc/apparmor.
@{HOMEDIRS}
