Unfortunately, I also agree with the general sentiment around here: snap simply is not ready as a product to replace core technology in Ubuntu LTS and the responsible thing would be to pull it out for now.

The work that we do daily with Ubuntu is also important. You can encourage filing issues, sending patches and getting help from the community. People will respect snap and all the developers' efforts more if they also acknowledge its limitations and understand the importance of the work that we do and why we cannot depend on technology that is not ready yet.

I strongly suggest that the snap team takes this seriously, voluntarily contacts whoever needs to change Ubuntu LTS to pull snap out from the default installation for now.

As a system maintainer and a sufferer of this package maintenance madness that surrounds not just Ubuntu but many programming languages, I'd be happy to contribute by listing the features that apt has and snap doesn't that I find make apt more robust (for now).
