I see MirrorsChannel class is in use by "mirrors" (which sounds like "apt" to me) and "up2date" (deprecated by Red Hat in favour of Yum) channel types. Maybe those channels will need a re-work, or to be deprecated, if you want to remove this class. This is not the scope of this bug report. ;)

I don't think it's too bad. Since it's a one-off operation, and the metadata will get fetched from the mirror instead of the main server, I don't think it's a big loss.

Ok, that can be fixed. What do you prefer? An if on the getFetchSteps, or on the fetch process itself?
