When Slingshot is opened, Pantheon-dock is not active. You need to click once somewhere to close Slingshot, then once again on the dock item you want to use.

Actually this happens with the whole screen. When Slingshot is opened the rest of the screen is disabled. You need to click once outside to close Slingshot, then once again to do the action you wanted (start an application on the dock, use the notifications, change tab in Midori, etc.

no longer affects: pantheon-dock

I'm afraid there's nothing we can do about in Luna.

When clicking and holding 'Applications', slingshot does not grab the entire screen. See #1114398.

Every other menu behaves like that, though. One click to dismiss, another to activate. Open any window menu, indicator menu, etc, they all behave like that. Do we want to make slingshot a special case?

We probably don't want slingshot to be different. When I opened this bug report I made a special case of slingshot because it was behaving differently from the other menus: IIRC the other menus allowed the user to interact with outside elements. This may have been changed during development to mimic slinghsot behaviour though.

But you're right, now that the behaviour is consistent with all other menus, it's more a design decision: do we want interaction with other elements while a menu is opened? Or do we want a safe click outside to close the menu?

It needs clarification from the elementary design team.
