Screenshots are all of a sudden blurry

Bug Description

I've used (and loved) Shutter for years on Ubuntu. Late last year I switched over to Xubuntu, and was happy to have Shutter work flawlessly up until this week.

For some reason the screenshots are now blurry. I'm using 0.90 Rev.1252 on Xubuntu 13.10.

blurry-screenshot.png was taken with Shutter. It looks OK when I view it in Shutter itself, but looks blurry when I edit it in Shutter or open it in any other program (Firefox, Chrome, ImageMagick display, GIMP, etc)

screenshot-of-screenshot.png was taken using the XFCE screenshot program of the preview view of blurry-screenshot.png *in* Shutter. So you can see it looks fine when viewing it with Shutter but is actually poor quality.

This is a weird one... I'll gladly provide more info to help. Shutter is awesome, and I'm dreading not being able to use it.

Hello!

When you go to Edit > Preferences, what is the Image format that is
selected?

Interestingly enough, the image format is set to JPEG, which I *did not* change from PNG.

When I set it back to PNG everything works just fine.

So... that's weird.

Also, even though the Image Format was set to JPEG, the filenames were saved with .png extension.

The same happened on my Linux Mint 13 Maya, based on Ubuntu 12.04.
Today (27-Apr-2014) I noticed the blurry images just after I wanted to use them
for a user guide.
Suddenly the image format was set to JPEG, but the suffix is still .png.
Weird.
I'm happy, that I found this solutio.
In fact it's not a bug in shutter but something else changed the format.
I am sure I didn't !
BTW: http://shutter-project.org/ is broken, too: Internal software error.

This happend with my Shutter after an upgrade from Ubuntu 15.10 to 16.04, the setting was changed to low quality JPEG.

Now I changed to a medium compressed PNG and the scrot's are nice again... =)

This same thing happened to me as well. After going into Preferences and setting the image format *back* to PNG, all was well again.
