Apparently the original "yum update" succeeded, because the first attempt at
   rpm -Uvvh --fsmdebug chrony-1.26-3.20110831gitb088b7.fc16.x86_64.rpm
said that version was already installed. So I "yum erase chrony", then ran rpm again. The attachment is the console output. I see no complaints this time.
