and why not?

let's give an example:

let's say that in backports, there's an updated version of php.

it's not unfeasable that there's an update of phpmyadmin, which now suggests/requires php-ldap.

would you want that update to get the php-ldap version of updates? or the one from backports? considering all of your php is from backports?

you'd want the one from backports.

And this is exactly why it should be like this.
