Is there a workaround for people without Compiz?

With Redshift running, either toggled on or toggled off, xcalib inverts the screen for a few seconds and then reverts to uninverted.

If I quit Redshift then xcalib holds the invert properly. I don't really like to quit Redshift. :)

Ideally I'd like an inverted+Redshifted screen (in that order).
