Redshift control startup status by changing the context of the file: ~/.config/autostart/gtk-redshift.desktop
via the key "X-GNOME-Autostart-enabled".
That obviously does not work in other WM including KDE. KDE ignores that key and starts it all the time.
The better way would be probably by placing and removing that file
