Bug Description

I saw you already did some work on this last year but got stuck on a bug/problem in snapcraft.
I understand the issue is still present, so this bug here is more for tracking the issue so it doesn't fall by the wayside.

Regarding "Why would we even":
I'd love to see RPD as a snap since I run debian unstable on my main (only...) PC, so RPD tends to not installable (like a few days ago) when one of the dependencies is not yet in sid.
A snap would allow me to keep RPD stable and pretty much independent of the rest of the system.

I have no time to work on a snap sorry. Someone else will have to step up and do the work.

Meanwhile, to solve your particular problem, you can run the installer from my website.

No reason to be sorry, I didn't expect that. :)
I just didn't want it to be entirely forgotten.

I also opened a new bug on the snapcraft project to see if the problem you ran into can be fixed:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/snapcraft/+bug/1761097

The patch that was discussed on the forums at the time doesn't correspond to the current code base, and I don't understand that code well enough to adapt it.
