Thanks. I installed a package from http://www.lfd.uci.edu/~gohlke/pythonlibs/#pyephem that worked fine. There are packages for Windows 32 and 64 bit and all Python versions.

I tried building from source (compiler mingw32) but got some compiler error

> c:/strawberry/c/bin/../lib/gcc/i686-w64-mingw32/4.4.3/../../../../i686-w64-mingw32/bin/ld.exe: cannot find -lmsvcr90

This is no fault of pyephem. http://bugs.python.org/issue4709
