Bug Description

Failed to send message:
envelope from address <email address hidden> not accepted by the server

This happens when I try to send any mails through my 3 Accounts. It seems that Postler don't send the correct "username" / "login name" to my provider.

have you tried editing the default username postler uses (it's in the advanced section)?

Hey! :-)

Jep I tried that and it does not work for me, because it does not use the "username" which is correctly displayed in the advanced section, but it uses my first name (e.g. matthis(at)web.de) and not the username (e.g. matthis.r(at)web.de).

Do you use the latest version?

I think so. It's version number 0.1.0 on an ArchLinux system. The rolling release should keep it up to date I think.

Hmm,i don't think there's an arch package,so it would be good if you try installing it from source..

There is an Arch package in the AUR, that is a pakage build. It uses the latest source code as far as I can see: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=46924

But I'll try it manually. Thanks so far - I'll come back to this topic when I tried it.

The package hasn't been updated in the last 11 days,so pulling from git and building postler is definitely worth to try.. =)

I tried with the latest version. Still the same error.

Let's be more explicit to avoid confusing:

latest release → 0.1.0
latest source from repository → git, bzr or in AUR postler-git

Sorry for the slightly confusing post.

I tried via:
git clone git://git.xfce.org/apps/postler

then:
./waf configure --prefix=/usr --disable-libindicate (which was needed for me to let it work with python2 I think)
./waf configure
./waf configure --run --disable-libindicate

and that started it. This instance had the version number "Postler 0.1.0-45-g846bf65" (from the info screen).

On the IRC channel,it came out that this happens not only to you,but with a couple providers other than gmail.
It could be some backend problem maybe,or the backend uses only the part before '@'..

I'm also experiencing similar problems trying to send emails from a Windows Live account. Again, I have to use my full email address to log in, whereas with my Google account I only use the first part (the bit before the @).

I'm using Postler built from git yesterday (2011-04-14).

Thanks!
