14.04: This indeed sounds like an error in an underlying library. I
think you'll have to stick to the last released Pogo version there,
version 0.8.7. A suitable package is available in the stable PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~pogo-dev/+archive/ubuntu/stable

16.04: The new code couldn't handle the old preferences file. This is
now fixed. Thanks!
