Hello!
Jeff, my interpretation of your results is that your USB key is indeed suffering from data corruption. Do you see this with all keys, or just this one? would it be possible for you to reformat the faulty key and see if that helps? If so, that looks to me like a different issue from Kent's, which is about the key just not being found.
