Henri Verbeet had the idea that the problem might be related to the mesa driver handling sRGB textures different during a blit than for example the nvidia driver . So I took the image and approximated a sRGB -> RGB conversion by increasing the gamma to 2.2 (this value should be suitable for most screens).

Except some artifacts introduced by this approximation, the image pretty much looks like what we expect. The theory that the problem is related to sRGB seems to be valid.
