Bug Description

Hi sirs, I have just installed pipelight 0.2.2 on a debian wheezy. I've installed it to access the url you can find in the Summary. I can login, I can browse documents but when I try to display a document I can see only a blank page... In Iceweasel I can see a lot of warning like this one:

Warning: Unknown property 'mso-style-type'. Declaration dropped

and so on for other properties like mso-ascii-font-family, mso-add-space, mso-ascii-theme-font...

Furthermore I have installed pipelight on a ubuntu 12.04 and the same happens. This is the console output of firefox where I have cut repeatedly identical rows :

$ export LANG=C && firefox

Hi piviul,

it might be possible that this page still has some problems with Pipelight / with wine, but since the pages requires a login we are not able to test it outself. The log file unfortunately doesn't contain any error.

Please check the following things so you can be sure your version of Pipelight it set up correctly.

* What do you get with the following command?
debconf-show ttf-mscorefonts-installer 2>/dev/null | grep "msttcorefonts/accepted-mscorefonts-eula:"

* Does the plugin work at all, for example with this demo page: http://bubblemark.com/silverlight2.html ?

* Which user-agent string did you use? Please check our diagnostic page: http://fds-team.de/pipelight and afterwards set it to the recommended one:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:15.0) Gecko/20120427 Firefox/15.0a1
If you have no UA switcher installed yet please follow the instructions here: https://answers.launchpad.net/pipelight/+faq/2351
Please test again if this is not the UA string you used before.

* Does it have any specific reason why you use export LANG=C ? Please check if it makes any difference when you run the browser without that.

* Try to disable GPU acceleration before starting the first firefox window. The easiest way to do that is to run your browser with:
PIPELIGHT_GPUACCELERATION=0 firefox

Please create a new log file with GPU acceleration disabled (as written in my last suggestion) and upload the full file (just attach it to this bug-report for example).

Thanks Sebastian, first of all I would like to say that you can get a demo account to access the page. Any way I send you what you asked me.

$ sudo debconf-show ttf-mscorefonts-installer 2>/dev/null | grep "msttcorefonts/accepted-mscorefonts-eula:"

in other world return nothing. In effect the command.

$ sudo debconf-show ttf-mscorefonts-installer
  msttcorefonts/dlurl:
  msttcorefonts/savedir:
  msttcorefonts/baddldir:
* msttcorefonts/http_proxy:
  msttcorefonts/dldir:

doesn't have a row containing "msttcorefonts/accepted-mscorefonts-eula"

Yes the link http://bubblemark.com/silverlight2.html works, I can change the number of ball, stop and start the animation.

I have installed User Agent Overrider 0.2.2 and the diagnostic page http://fds-team.de/pipelight says
Checking for Windows user agent ...okay
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:24.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/24.0
Please note: not every user agent works on every site, try multiple ones if something doesn't work!

The reason I used LANG=C was only to get warnings and errors in english instead of in italian... there are no differences if I open the site using LANG=C or without that.

Hi piviul,

some messages look a bit unusual in the debug output:

[PIPELIGHT:LIN:silverlight5.1] basicplugin.c:776:dispatcher(): object referenceCount smaller than expected?
[PIPELIGHT:WIN:silverlight5.1] ../common/common.c:252:readCommands(): unable to receive data.

normally such messages shouldn't occur that often (or in theory never), but they appear multiple times in your debug output. :/

.

I would suggest to try out the following additional ideast:

* Set the user agent string to the recommended one instead of the one you're using (I already have seen some other pages where this leads to a different behaviour):
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:15.0) Gecko/20120427 Firefox/15.0a1

* Please test the page with another browser like Google-Chrome or Chromium. You will have to set up a separate user agent for this one https://answers.launchpad.net/pipelight/+faq/2351 . It could probably be an issue which only occurs in firefox.

* You could also try to switch to Silverlight5.0. I doubt that it solves the problem, but I think its worth a try:
sudo pipelight-plugin --disable silverlight5.1 --enable silverlight5.0
You can switch back to 5.1 if this doesn't change anything.

If none of these ideas helps I would suggest you to come into our IRC channel #pipelight on freenode. If you don't have an IRC chat installed you can use this webchat: http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=%23pipelight - but please use a different browser than the one for testing, since almost all tests require browser restarts ;-)

Hi Sebastian, I've done further investigations...

Firefox or iceweasel, even adding the user agent string you suggest me, doesn't works: I can see only blank pages.

Installing Chromium and choosing the user agent string you suggest me seems to solve the problem. :))

Hi,

this seems to be a duplicate of bug #1215496, but I would need a pipelight log created with chromium to be 100% sure. I will mark it as duplicate anyway, since wen can split it up again, if this is not the case.
