I investigated this problem little bit in deep - made some additional tests. All tests done on Ubuntu 11.10.
I did the following: 1. I purged the pinta 1.1 (installed from PPA) from system: sudo apt-get purge pinta
2. Started Ubuntu Software Center and unchecked the Pinta sources from Software Sources.
3. I updated the Ubuntu repository: sudo apt-get update
4. I installed Pinta from official repository: sudo apt-get install pinta
As I see Pinta 1.0-3 is installed. Using <Alt>+<Tab> key and I can see a Pinta's icon. See attachment.
5. I have purged Pinta again: sudo apt-get purge pinta
6. Started Ubuntu Software Center and checked back Pinta PPAs from Software Sources.
7. Updated Ubuntu repository: sudo apt-get update
8. Installed Pinta 1.1 from PPA sudo apt-get install pinta
Pinta 1.1 is installed. Using <Alt>+<Tab> and icon is not displayed. See attachment.
So it looks there is a problem in current Pinta 1.1 package installed from PPA.
