Presumably, it should work like the pencil tool at that size.

It looks like moving paintbrush over two boxes then it fills them both, interesting. What is also interesting is that color of paintbrush is gray, repainting the same same two boxes for 5-times it gets black. With pencil it gets black first time it is filed.

I have never really understand why are there two tools like Pencil and Paintbrush if both of them are doing the same thing (Paintbrush with width 1).

The grey is due to anti-aliasing being on. Even if it is turned off, the tool doesn't work as it should. It doesn't draw until the mouse is moved over one box.

I am using Pinta 1.7 on Ubuntu and i still have this problem of the pencil not drawing until it moves to the second pixel.

i don't understand how it is apparently fixed at version 0.7 but still an issue at version 1.7

is it possibly only fixed for windows users and not Linux?

any help would be appreciated as it is difficult to draw fine detail.

This bug report was for the paintbrush tool, not the pencil tool. To confirm, is it the pencil tool you're using?

(A separate bug report would be ideal to avoid confusion if this is a separate issue)

thank you for your response, yes i can confirm the problem is with the Pencil tool.

when i try to create a new bug report for the pencil tool i am lead to bug report 602530 that is the same problem but for the pencil tool that clams to be fixed by yourself

but i still have the problem with the pencil tool under Ubuntu Pinta 1.7

many thanks for your support

It's working as expected for me in my testing on v1.7 - do you have e.g. a screen grab showing the issue as it happens?
The only related change recently was https://bugs.launchpad.net/pinta/+bug/1775709 which prevents drawing outside the selection

ok so i have sort of worked out the problem or at least how to stop it from happening.

some how i have got version 1.6 and version 1.7 installed at the same time with 2 Pinta shortcuts one for each in my start menu.

if i open pinta 1.6 it works fine, but for whatever reason if i run version 1.7 it has the bug.

also looking in more detail at the actual bug im getting in version 1.7 when i click the mouse it is drawing the first pixel but in BLACK not in the currently selected colour, then as the mouse moves to the next pixel it changes to the correct colour.

so in order to reproduce the bug you have to be using any colour other than black.
as black is the default on opening the program you may be trying to test it will black as the selected colour and not getting the error.

thank you for your help, if i can help further i will try but im good with just using version 1.6 for now.
