Yeah, I guess we'll have to just use the file name as-is - this also relates a bit to https://github.com/PintaProject/Pinta/pull/215 which is refactoring some of the file open/save behaviour to use GFile.
We might be able to just pop up a confirmation dialog if the user is trying to save without an extension?
