James, thanks for fixing this problem. I have now refreshed Pinta 2.0.2 snap package and it looks like fixed, no more lost files when saving.

I have now also installed Pinta 2.0.2 from Github by downloading automatically compiled version where there is no file lost.

There is just little difference between github vs. snap package in path display. Snap displays little bit more, but this is tiny difference not effecting any usage. See attachment.
